| FeatureCustomised Community Cultural Development Training with the Disability Services Commission In March 2007 CAN WA was engaged by the Accommodation Services Directorate (ASD) of the Disability Services Commission (DSC) to deliver customised, non-accredited training in the area of community cultural development to address a priority training area identified in the DSC Strategic Plan.
CAN WA’s long history of working closely with local governments throughout the state placed us in an ideal position to help ASD staff to grow their existing relationships and forge new ones with the local governments and their staff relevant to the Directorate’s line of work.
The learning modules developed by CAN WA were:
- Community Cultural Development (CCD) – Principles and Practice
- ‘Sense of Community’ – Why is it important?
- Networking theory – mapping connections
- Models of Community Leadership
- Partnerships with Local Government – Roles and Responsibilities
- Advocacy
- Rehearsal for Change – Making your Case to Local Government
- Opportunities for Change
- Best Practice examples from the sector
