If you’re engaged in the field of community arts, chances are at some point you’ve been challenged by the power dynamics of working with communities.
It’s often the elephant in the room… the unspoken element that hovers in the background….
What are your boundaries? When does the artist lead? How do keep a balance been artistic vision and community collaboration? How do you know what’s overstepping the mark?
It’s a rewarding and challenging world to work in, but it’s also one fraught with anxiety and uncertainty.
That’s why CAN has assembled a panel of community artists with a range of experience and knowledge of working with communities to help us explore this important topic: The Dynamics of Power and Creative Vision When Producing Art with Communities.
The Creative Industry Forum will provide a safe environment to have an honest and open conversation about the interplay of power.
Facilitated by Lockie McDonald, panellists Sandy McKendrick, Audrey Satar and Mallika Macleod will share case studies and personal learnings from their work with community.
By sharing our triumphs, frustrations and failures, this session aims to help participants grow more confident and stronger in their area of community arts practice.
Don’t miss this important industry event. Book your spot for next week!
