CAN would like to congratulate all the applicants who were successful in the September round of the Catalyst Community Arts Fund.
Catalyst will fund 11 projects, totalling almost $125,000.
Projects ranged in scope from small targeted participant groups, to whole of community projects, engaging participants from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The successful projects for 2017 include a horse inspired visual arts project in the Perth Hills, various cultural groups collaborating to produce dance pieces for a multicultural festival and community members coming together in a choral project in Joondalup.
Regionally, women in Kalumburu will develop their weaving skills to pass on to younger generations, and young people in Cue will learn how to make short films.
All funded projects aim to develop skills and enable communities to participate in arts and cultural activities that express local culture and identity.
The Catalyst fund is managed by CAN on behalf of the State Government of Western Australia through the Department of Culture and the Arts. You can find a list of all the successful projects for 2017 here:
