Indigenous Arts and Cultural DevelopmentCAN WA is committed to building the cultural capital of Indigenous people in Western Australia through community-driven schemes. We believe that the celebration of culture and its active practice is central to reconciliation, personal self-esteem and harmony. CAN WA sees art as a conversation, not just a means of gathering art-products. We engage Indigenous communities with that model in mind. We seek to amplify Indigenous voices in the social concert, and to empower communities to create their own vision for cultural growth. Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development Office, KellerberrinCAN WA’s Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development Unit is situated in Kellerberrin; in the Western Australian Eastern Wheatbelt. The Unit is funded by the Australia Council, the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Department of Indigenous Affairs. Frank Walsh, a Badimia man from the Yamatji region in the Midwest, currently manages the Indigenous Art and Cultural Development Unit. Frank is originally from Mount Magnet and has a background in media and community development. You can contact him by email or drop by the office to discuss your plans and projects.
