Funding

As CAN WA has strong links with communities throughout Western Australia, we are uniquely placed to connect communities and arts practitioners to prospective funding pools.

We do this through our Catalyst, Creative Networks and Sharing Stories Funding Programs.

Catalyst

Catalyst Community Arts Fund

Catalyst is a funding pool that supports WA community art projects where people have the opportunity to participate, learn together and express their local culture and identity. This fund also supports individual community cultural development workers and community artists looking to undertake research or training.

Creative Networks fund

Creative Network Fund

The Creative Networks Fund (CNF) is designed to support local regional government authorities (LGA’s) to develop their capacity to use art and culture to improve the lives of their citizens.

Sharing Stories

Sharing Stories logo

Sharing Stories is a fund for regional projects that centre on inter-cultural dialogue.

All of these funds encourage the use of art for the expression of a community’s unique culture.

Australia Council and Department of Culture and the Arts funding

Our tripartite partners Australia Council for the Arts and the Department of Culture and the Arts also offer excellent funding opportunities for arts and cultural activities.

“The opportunity offered by community-based arts projects to participate in a collective activity, to meet and work with people outside a person’s usual circles and to show the group’s achievement within the local community can be a transforming experience. When individuals grow, communities benefit” – Francois Matarasso, ‘Creating Value’.
