The Board of Community Arts Network is pleased to announce the appointment of June Moorhouse and Monica Kane as the joint General Managers of CAN, filling the senior leadership role of the organisation.
Monica Kane has been with CAN for 7 years and has been a part of the organisation’s leadership team for much of that time.
Monica holds a Bachelor of Arts, Communication and Cultural Studies, a Bachelor of Social Science – Sociology and she is currently working towards a Master of Human Rights Education.
“As joint General Manager I enjoy leading a professional and creative team who are committed to inspiring arts outcomes that honour the stories from the communities we work with,” said Ms Kane.
June Moorhouse has more than 30 years professional arts experience working in senior management positions and as an independent consultant across all artforms. Her history includes appointments to the former Community Cultural Development Board and the Community Partnerships Committee of the Australia Council.
“I have had a long connection to CAN through my Australia Council involvement and as a consultant and I am now delighted to be able to share the leadership of CAN with Monica,” said June.
CAN’s Chair Adam Marr praised the pair for the strength, commitment and skills they have demonstrated in managing CAN whilst navigating recent challenges in the funding landscape and considerable organisational change.
The Managers are looking forward to continuing CAN’s work with communities on Noongar country and expanding the organisation’s work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
