Dr Mark Bin Bakar
Mark is the founder and Managing Director of Mary G Enterprises and has an alter-ego, the beloved Mary G. Mary G is the ‘Queen of the Kimberley’ and performs live and on radio and television.
Mark and Mary G are committed, conscious and passionate about the health, wellbeing and social development of Western Australian communities and Australia as a whole.
Mark previously Chaired the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Arts Board with the Australia Council and was previously a Board Member of the Chamber of Culture and Arts WA.
In 2008 Mark was named National Indigenous Person of the Year, WA Australian of the Year and in the same year received a High Commendation Human Rights Medal.
Dr Peter Newman, AO
Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute
Peter is Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University and a board member of Infrastructure Australia. His work in urban design and sustainable transport was recognised in 2014 when he was awarded an Order of Australia and his contribution to science and town planning was recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia in 2011, with the Sidney Luker Medal.
He has published several books including, ‘Resilient Cities: Responding to Peak Oil and Climate Change’ (2009) and ‘Green Urbanism Down Under’ (2009). Peter is recognised as a leading sustainability expert, having directed the production of WA’s Sustainability Strategy in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet from 2001 to 2003 and performing in the role of Sustainability Commissioner in Sydney from 2004 to 2005.
