What do we do?
Everything that CAN WA does is motivated by our conviction that art and culture fuel one another. We believe that you can build stronger communities through artistic practice. We believe that art can communicate ideas that may normally be pinched off because of language or cultural obstacles. We believe that making art brings people together and erodes the barriers we artificially create in our communities. Our ethos is to animate, unite and energise culture, under your direction.
Our first question is always how do you imagine your community?
CAN WA maintains three funding pools called:
- Catalyst (for new projects),
- Community Culture (for project that have a strong emphasis on community consultation) and
- Sharing Stories (for projects that centre on inter-cultural dialogue).

Further to this, CAN WA also creates meaningful opportunities for community participation and engagement in the arts and cultural activities through our cultural planning and youth-focused programs, the latter under the name LiveworX.
