Geri Hayden | aboriginal Arts and Culture Coordinator
'Working in partnership empowers all of us to make a difference' and that’s what I am helping to do in the Southern Wheatbelt Regional areas of Brookton, Pingelly, Narrogin and Wagin.
Community Development is part of our role CAN WA and has given us the opportunity to become involved and to make a difference to build a 'Strong Community' and to build a 'Strong Culture' for our Noongar community.
Challenges will follow and I believe Sonia, Ross and I will have the best fun working with our Noongar communities in building relationships through arts and culture.
Sonia Kickett | aboriginal Arts and Culture Trainee
I appreciate the perceptiveness of CAN WA who had the foresight to implement capacity and character building programs for the communities of Brookton, Pingelly, Narrogin and Wagin at a time when the people were experiencing immerse personal sorrow.
My position as Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development Trainee allows me the privilege of promoting a rewarding and enjoyable lifestyle for the people through the delivery of art based projects, a form of expression innate to the souls of Aboriginal people.
Ross Storey | aboriginal Arts and Culture Trainee
I look forward to nurturing our young leaders for our future by getting them back to Country. I'd like to teach them about caring for Country and acknowledging and having respect for the wisdom and knowledge that Elders have and the part they play in our society.
I look at Aboriginal arts and culture as a teaching tool for our young people and future generations, to strengthen our ties to our land and ancestors.
