Art and Community Health Award, The Art of Good Health and Wellbeing Conference, Melbourne, 2010
CAN WA went to The Art of Good Health and Wellbeing Conference in Melbourne, 16-19 November to present a session - and ended up walking away with the Art and Community Health Award for the contribution of CAN WA's work towards community wellbeing.

Presented by Managing Director, Pilar Kasat and project researcher Dr. Dave Palmer, the session explored some of the lessons CAN WA has learnt about the use of art to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in regional Western Australia. We extend our congratulations to Lindsay Lovering (Healthway) and Pippa Davis (Buzz Dance Theatre) who were awarded with the National Leadership in Art and Health Award and the Aboriginal Health and Art Award respectively.

CAN WA worked with Bam Creative to revamp our website in April, and we couldn't be more pleased with the results! The new and improved canwa.com.au was entered into the Australian Web Awards for 2010 - and canwa.com.au was selected as a finalist in the Arts & Events - West Coast Region section.

abaf awards 2010
CAN WA was awarded the Toyota Community Award at the 2010 AbaF Awards on 8 September 2010. Over a three year partnership, CAN WA and the City of Gosnells delivered the Risky Bizness educational program that explores the dangers and concequences of risky behaviours in young people using the artistic mediums of film and drama.

multicultural community service award
The Reel Connections initative was awarded the Multicultural Community Service Award in November 2009, honouring the positive contributions the partnership made in the lives of WA people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

wa excellence in arts enterprise award
In 2009, Community Arts Network WA was awarded the WA Excellence in Arts Enterprise Award for our Voices of the Wheatbelt project, phase 1.
‘CAN WA’s project ‘Voices of the Wheatbelt’ enabled the community to build a cultural identity to call their own.’ said Arts and Culture Minister John Day, who presented the Excellence in Arts Enterprise award.
abaf awards 2009
CAN WA was awarded the 2009 Australian Business and the Arts Foundation’s Young and Emerging Artist Award for WA and was nominated as a finalist for the national award. The Award recognised CAN WA’s partnership with the City of Stirling and Filmbites Youth Film School on the Reel Connections Initiative - engaging disadvantaged young people located in the City of Stirling in arts and cultural activities.
